WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
recognizes the fundamental importance in the Florida economy of a broad
program of education for the youth of this State, through elementary and
r~econdary Achoole, colleges and universities; and
WHEREAS, the indicated greatly increasing enrollments of the years
gust ahead will require a much larger investment in our Florida educational
institutions; and
WHEREAS, there is a demonstrated need for expansion of university
and junior College facilities to insure optimum use of the arts and sciences,
engineering and technological studies, postgraduate and professional education
in order to achieve our State goals; and
WHEREAS, it is our conviction that the proposal by the 1963 Legislature
of the State of Florida to amend the ConBtitution of the State of Florida to
authorize the issuance of bonds for educational purposes, is the most
advantageous method immediately available for providing seriously needed
funds; ,
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
in accordance with its 1ong~standing objective to participate in activities
which axe directed toward making our community a better place i.n which to
live, and to work, and to raise our children, endorse this proposal and
commend it in its entirety to the citizens of this community and to Florida
citizens generally for adoption at the General Election on November 5, 1463.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be sent to the Honorable
G. Farris Bryant, Governor of Florida, State Capitol, Tallahassee, Florida.
