RESOLUTION NUMBER 90-15
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER. FLORIDA. OPPOSING THE TRANSFER OF SALES TAX
TRUST FUND MONIES BY THE STATE TO BALANCE THE STATE I S
BUDGET.
WHE~EAS. the Governor of the State of Florida has proposed reducirlg the
local government one-half cent sales tax trust fund by 3 percent; and
WHEREAS. this new fee would function as a service fee for administration
that would. in effect. transfer funds promised to cities and counties to the
State general fund to help balance the State's budget; and
WHEREAS. the proposal has the effect of reducing the one-half cent sales
tax to the City of Clearwater by $115.041 or the equivalent of .03 mills; and
WHEREAS. the City of Clearwater has limited revenue raising options due
to the limitations of the State constitution and other State limits;
NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER. FLORIDA. THAT:
Section 1. The Pinellas County delegation to the Florida Legislature is
hereby requested to strongly oppose the transfer of anY sales tax trust fund
monies by the State to balance the State's budget.
Section 2. Copies of this resolution shall be forwarded by mail to the
Governor of the State of Florida. the Pinellas County Legislative delegation.
the Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County. and all other
municipalities within Pinellas County. Florida,
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
