A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER. FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO FILE AN APPLICATION FOR A FLORIDA HIGHWAY
BEAUTIFICATION GRANT AND MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.
WHEREAS. many roadside areas and median strips ahutting Florida
Department of Transportation rights-of-ways areas must be maintained
and attractively landscaped. and
WHEREAS. the Courtney Campbell Parkway serves as the major.
entry to the City of Clearwater for over 40.000 residents and tourists
daily, and
WHEREAS, the City of Tampa and its citizens have implemented
Phase I of a three-phase Beautification to the Hillsborough County
side of the Parkway. and
WHEREAS. enthusiasm and interest has been expressed to institute
a beautification to the'Clearwater side. and
WHEREAS. the Clearwater City Commission has established that
Beautification of the Courtney Campbell Parkway is a long range goal
of the City, and
WHEREAS, the Clearwater City Commission wishes to authorize
the City Manager and his staff to apply for a Florida Highway Beautification
Grant;
NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF CLEARWATER. FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager and his staff are hereby authorized
to apply for a State Department of Transportation Highway Beautification
, Grant.
Section 2. The City Manager and his staff are empowered to execute
and file said application. and maintenance agreements required to secure
said grant.
Section 3. The proper officers of the City of Clearwater are
hereby authorized to do all things necessary to 'carry out the provisions
of this resolution.
