RESOLUTION NO. 89-47
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CENTER FOUNDATION.
WHEREAS. the City of Clearwater is a. municipal corporation owning
approximately fifteen acres of land located on Belcher Road which was leased to
the Center Foundation on December 29th, 1986; and
WHEREAS, the Center Foundation is constructing a facility for public
recreational and educational programs which will be open and accessible to
Cl ea rwater residents in a manner generally cons i stent with the operati on of
City public parks; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation is establishing an endowment fund for the
purpose of gellerat 1 n9 suffi c1 ent mon1 es to mai nt ai n and operate the premi ses
and its improvements; and
WHEREAS, the facilities being constructed by the Center Foundation would
otherwise have been a reqUirement of the City of Clearwater in accord with the
City's Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, ci t i zens of Cl ea rwate r will benefi t from th i s maj or
recreation/education facility at a savings in capital improvement tax dollars
since the majority of funding has been secured from the private sector by ~he
Center Foundation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Corrmission hereby expresses its support of the
Center Foundation's eligibility for the community contribution tax credit and
finds the Center Foundation's construction plans in complete agreement with the
comprehensive plan and the zoning regulations of the City of Clearwater.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
