RESOLUTION NO. 89-2Z
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COlwttISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE MONTH OF JUNE, 1989,
AS HURRICANE AWARENESS MONTH.
WHEREAS. the Tampa Bay Region has been identified by the National Weather
Service as being one of the most hurricane vulnerable areas in the United States
because of the potential for large scale loss of life and destruction of
property; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater has adopted policies and procedures for
hurricane evacuation and emergency management because of the serious hurricane
hazard confronting the City and the entire Tampa Bay Region; and
WHEREAS, the key to the success of these policies and procedures is the
informed citizen: and
WHEREAS, the Hurricane Evacuation Public Information tabloids will be
updated and redistributed regionwide through major local newspapers on Sunday,
June 4, 1989; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The month of June, 1989, is hereby dnclared as Hurricane
Awareness Month in the City of Clearwater in order to increase public interest
and understanding of the hurricane hazard.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall forward copies of this resolution to the
Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council and to the Board of County Commissioners of
Pinellas County, Florida.
