RBSOLUTION NO. 89-8
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARW ATEH., FLOlUDA,
REQUBSTING THE PtNELLAS COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS TO CANCEL AND DISCHARGE A CBR'rAIN
TAX LIEN UPON MUNICIPAL PROPERTY ACQUIRED FOR
PUBLIC PURPOSES, AND TO GRANT TAX EXEMPTIONS.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, n Florida munlclpalitYt has acquired a
certain parcel of real property for rond right-of-way at Park dtreet and Myrtle
Avenue;nnd
WHEREAS, the City at Clearwater desires that the Board of County
Commissioners of Plnellas County discharge any and allllens [or taxes held or owned
by the County or the state of Florida upon said land, and to further provide that said
land shall be exempt from County taxation so long 8R the same Is owned and used for
such public purpose, as authorized by Section 196.28, FlorIda Statutes; and
WHEREAS, In order to comply wIth the policy of said Board, the City of
Clearwater is wllUng to guarantee payment of taxes prior to the date of transfer on
said land as provided herein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF CLEARW ATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City of Clearwater hereby requests the Board of County
Commissioners of Pinellas County, Florida, to take all tormal action necessary to
cancel and discharge any and alIllens for taxes, held or owned by Pinellas County or
the State of Florida, upon the land acqUired by the City of Clearwater for public
purposes, which land is more particularly described in the deed attached hereto as
Exhibit A and made 8 part hereof, and to provJde that said land shall be exempt from
taxatfon 80 long as the same is used for such public purposes.
Section 2. The City of Clearwater guarantees payment of taxes prfor to the date
of transfer on said land when the tax rolls reflect the proper amount and the City Is
billed for that amount.
Section 3. A certified copy of this resolution shall be delivered forthwith to the
County Administrator for Pinellas County, Florida.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon Its adoption.
