No. 88 - 24
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS OF PINELLAS
COUNTY TO RESERVE SPACE ON THE BALLOT FOR A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD CONCURRENTLY WITH THE GENERAL
PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 8, 1988, POR THE
PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY ONB OR
MORE BALLOT QUESTIONS, THE FORM OF WHICH SHALL BE
PROVIDED ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 21,1988.
WHEREAS, the City Commission now has under consideration a proposed
ordinance amending varIous provIsions of the pension plan for City employees, and the
proposed ordinance If adopted will require the approval of the electors of the City at a
referendum election to be held for that purpose; and
WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections hs.s required the't requests for the
reservation of space on the ballot be made not later than July 22, 1988; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. A special election is hereby called for the purpose of placing one or
more referendum questions relating to the subject of the pension plan for employees of
the City before the electors of the City of Clearwater. The special election shall be
held concurrently with the General Presidential Election on November 8, 1988. The
City Clerk is authorized and directed to notify the Supervisor of Elections or PineUas
County that a special election has been called for that date, and to request that space
be reserved on the ballot. The City Clerk is also authorized and dIrected to cause 8
notice of the special election to be pUblished In a newspaper of general circulation in
the City of Clearwater in accordance with Section 100.342, Florida Statutes, and
Section 30.03, Code of Ordinances.
Section 2. 'I11is resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
