UESOLUTION
No. 88-22
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF PINELLAS COUNTY, SUPPORTING THE
WIDENING OF McMULLEN-BOOTH ROAD BETWEEN GULF-
TO-BAY BOULEVARD (STATE ROAD 60) AND STATE ROAD
580, BUT REQUESTING THAT THE PROJECT BE LIMITED TO
A FOUR-LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY, WITH APPROPRIATE
TURN LANES A T INTERSECTIONS AND WITH
ACCELERATION-DECELERATION LANES, DURING THE
CONSTR UCTION PHASE SCHEDULED TO BEGIN IN 1988,
AND REQUESTING THAT McMULLEN-BOOTH ROAD NOT BE
LINKED WITH ANY PROPOSED TURNPIKE OR INTERSTATE
HIGHWAY OR CONVERTED TO ANY EXPRESSWAY OR
FREEWAY.
WHEREAS, Plnellas County Is acquiring additional right-of-way for the widening
of McMullen-Booth Road between Drew Street and State Road 580; and
WHEREAS, the projected trafClc needs of Plnellas County hove establfshed the
need to widen McMullen-Booth Rood in order to accommodate four lanes of traffic,
with appropriate turn lanes at intersections, through the year 2000;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA~
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Clearwater docs hereby proclaim
Its support for the widening of McMullen-Booth Road between Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard
(State Road 60) and State Road 580, but urges the Boord of County Commissioners of
Pinellas County to limit the scope of the project to R four-lone divided highway, with
appropriate turn lanes at Intersections and with acceleration-deceleration lones,
during the construction phase scheduled to begin In 1988. The City Commission
further requests that the McMullen-Booth corrider not be linked with any planned
turnpikes or Interstate highway or converted to any expressway or freeway.
Section 2. Upon the adoption of this resolution, the City Clerk sholl prov,ide
caples hereof to the Boord of County Commissioners and to the County Administrator
of Plnellas County, Florida.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
