RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEAR'WATER, FJ~ORIDA,
REQUESTING A mGH PRIORITY FOR THE PROPOSED
CONSTRUCTION OF AN INTERCHANGE AT THE
INTERSECTION OF DREW STREET AND U. S. mGHWA Y 19;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Traooportation has recognized the need
for Interchanges at major Intersections on U. S. Highway 19i and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation has provided for
preliminary engineering for interchanges at Northeast Coachman Road, Sunset Point
Road, and BeUeair Road in the July 21, 1987, work program; and
WHEREAS, the Intersection of Drew street and U. S. Highway 19 was the highest
accident location In the City of Clearwater for 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater finds that the intersection of Drew Street
and U. S. Highway 19 Is In urgent need of an interchange; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Planning Organization has Indicated Its support of a
higher priority for an Interchange at Drew street and U.S. Highway 19 In the October,
1987, Transportation Improvement Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RBSOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Clearwater does hereby request
that the Florida Department of Transportation redirect planned expenditures for work
leading to design and construction of interchanges on U. S. Highway 19 In order to
provide a high priority for the intersection of Drew Street and U. S. Highway 19.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect Immediately upon adoption.
