A RESOLUTION 01-' TilE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING A PROPOSED INLET DREDGING PROJECT
FUNDED BY TUE STATE OF FLORIDA, PINELLAS COUNTY
AND TilE CITY OF CLEARWATER.
WltEREAS, Pincl1aa County is serving as the local Sponsor of a navigation
project through Dunedin Pass, formerly known as Big Pass (Latitude 28001'
North, Longitude 82049' West); and
WHEREAS, Pioellaa County haa developed plana for dredging a navigational
channel to provide acccss from the Gulf of Mexico to Mandalay Channel, and
permit applications have bcen submitted and are being processcd for the
proposed project; and
WHEREAS, the Clearwater Marine Science Center has provided assurances of
its willingness to participate by granting the required property acceS8 across
the northern portion of Clearwater Beach Island; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project 1s of substantial public benefit as
discussed in the Dunedin and Hurricane Passes, Pinellaa County, Florida,
Detailed Project Report, Improvements for Small Boat Navigation, University of
South Florida Study; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of r.he City of Clearwater desires to
officially register its support of the proposed project; and
WHEREAS, the City Commdssion of the City of Clearwater had previously
approved Resolution No. 84 - 61 and desires to officially reaffirm and
emphasize its intent to fully support this project;
NOW THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission hereby gives its full support to the
construction of a navigation project through Dunedin Pass. formerly known as
Big Pass.
2. That a copy of this Resolution shall be transmitted forthwith to the
Florida Department of Natural Resources, the Florida Department of
Environmental Regulation, the Chairman of the Plne1lns County Commission, the
Chairman of the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation. and the Jacksonville
District Engineer, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.
3. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of January) 1988.
