RBSOLUTION
No. 86 - 89
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING THE DESIGNATION OF RALEIGH-DURHAM AS A
"LONDON GATEWAyn AIRPORT.
WHEREAS, Amerloan Airlines has proposed that Raleigh-Durham be designated
by the U. S. Department of Transportation as a "gatewayll far International air service
to and from London; and
WHEREAS, the same airline has announced the commencement of commercial
air service from the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Airport, which would provIde for
convenient air travel between Pinelll1s County and Great Britain if Raleigh-Durham is
designated as a rrgateway" airport; and
WHEREAS, there Is a need for expanded commercial alrUne services to service
the residents ot the CIty of Clearwater and of Plnellas County; and
WHEREAS, access to Interstate and International air travel at the st.
Petersburg/Clearwater Airport would be of great benefit to the residents of the City
, and of Plnellas County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THB CITY OF CLEARW ATBR, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, hereby
declares its support for the designation of Raleigh-Durham as a "gatewaytl for
commercial air travel to and from London, In order to permit convenient air travel
between Pinellas County and Great Britain.
Section 2. Upon the adoption of this resolution, the City Clerk shall deliver a
copy by mall to the Honorable William A. Kane, Jr., Administrative Law Judge,
Department of Transportation, Washington, D.C. 20590, for entry In the U.S.-London
, Gateways case, Docket No. 44432~
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
