A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER. FLORIDA. AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO, EXECUTE AND FILE A GRANT APPLICATION UNDER THE
PUBLIC LIBRARY GRANT PROGRAM WITH THE FLORIDA STATE LIBRARY.
DEPARTMENT OF STATE.
WHEREAS. the City of Clearwater has made a long-term commitment to the
provision and improvement of library services and facilities; and
WHEREAS. the Library Services and Construction Act~ Title II. has
appropriated funds to the Division of Library Services for the Public Library
Construction Grant program on a 50% matching-share basis for local public
library construction projects up to a maximum grant of $200.000; and
WHEREAS. local governmental units in the State of Florida which provide
library services are eligible to aubmit grant applications; and
WHEREAS. such grant application must be filed on or before November 28. 1986,
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA. IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED. AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute
and file a grant application under the Public Library Construction Grant program
of the Florida Division of Library Services to construct a library at State Road
580 and Countryside Boulevard. and to furnish all information and data necessary
to complete said grant application.
2. That all funds necessary to meet the matching fund obligations of the
City with the Division of Library Services have been appropriated and that said
funds are unexpended end unencumbered.
3. That funding for this project is sufficient and available in order
that the project will result in a completed library building.
4. That upon completion of the project, sufficient funds will be available
to operate the'facility.
5. This resolution shall became effective immediately upon its adoption.
