A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE PINELLAS SPORTS
AUTHORITY TO ACQUIRE THE SUNSHINE STATE GAMES
FOR 1987-88.
WHEREAS, Florida's Sunshine State Games is recognized as one
of the most prominent olympic-style sports festivals in the nation;
and
WHEREAS, pinellas County desires to host these games in 1987-88;
and

WHEREAS, the Sunshine State Games will bring an estimated 15,000
athletes along with families, friends, officials and other spectators
to pinellas County during a two-week period in those years; and
WHEREAS, these visitors will patronize hotels, restaurants and
retail establishments throughout Pinellas County thus delivering ,
a substantial economic impact; and

WHEREAS, the attention focused on the games through the media
will spread information on Pinellas County thr.oughout Florida; and
WHEREAS, this exposure will project a positive image of pinellas
County and encourage future visitors; and

WHEREAS, the Sunshine state Games will be staged throughout
Pinellas County with many communities taking part;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:

1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
recognizing the value of these games to Pinellas County, does hereby
pledge its support to the efforts of the Pinellas Sports Authority
to acquire the Sunshine State Games for 1987-88 and urges all of
