A RESOLUTION REQUESTffiO THE TRUSTEES OF THE INTERNAL
IMPROVEMENT TRUST FUN 0 TO APPROVE THE CONSTRUCTION
OF AN ARTIFICIAL FISHING REEF ON SOVEREIGNTY-QWNED
BOTTOM LAND OFF THE OUTER END OF BIG PIER 60.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater owns and operates a publiC recreational
pier extending Into the Gulf or Mexico from a clty-owned public beach; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater desires to construct an artificial fishing
reer near the outer end or said pier to provide Improved fishing conditions for the
public; and
WHEREAS, construction of said artificial reef on sovereignty-owned
bottom land requires the approval of the Trustees ot the Internal Improvement Trust
Fund; and
WHEREAS, In the event of the removal of the existing pier, the City
agrees that the artificial reef shan also be removed or the City will assume liability
for any damages due to potential hazards to navigation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY
AND REOULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission hereby officially requests the Trustees of
tho Internal Improvement Trust Fund to approve the construction of an artificial
fishing reef on sovereignty-owned bottom land westward of the City-owned public
beach In Clearwater, Florida.
2. That a certified copy of this resolution shall be transmitted to the
Florida Department of Natural Resources.
3. This resolution shall become effective Immediately upon its adoption.

day of June, 1985.
