A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING SENATE BILL CS/SB 408 AND HOUSE BILL
759, WHICH WOULD AUTHORIZE STATE FUNDING OF A
PORTION OF OPERATING EXPENSES OF LOCAL TRANSIT
SYSTEMS AND TRANSPORTATION DISADVANTAGED PROVIDERS.
WHEREAS, Senate Bill CS/SB 408 and House Bill 759 have been
introduced which would authorize State funding of a portion of
operating expenses of local transit systems and transportation
disadvantaged providers; and
WHEREAS, these bills provide, among other things, that recipients
must identify productivity and effectiveness performance measur~s
and system performance shall be reported annually; and
WHEREAS, the City Co~nission believes this is ~,sound bill
to assist in developing transit's role in meeting the increasing
problems in Florida's transportation network;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CLEARWATER,
FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY l\ND REGULi1.RLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLO\'1S:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida,
hereby gives its support to Senate Bill CS/SB 408 and House Bill
759 and 'urges the pinellas County Legislative Delegation to support
~assage of these bills.
2. That a copy of this Resolution be transmitted forthwith to
the Pinellas County Legislative Delegation and to the Pinellas Sun-
coast Transit Authority.
