A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE
COMMISSIONERS TO CANCEL AND
MUNICIPAL PROPERTY ACQUIRED
FROM ALL LIENS FOH TAXES AND
BOARD OF COUNTY
DISCHARGE CERTAIN
FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES
TO GRANT TAX EXEMPTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater, Florida, a municipal corporation,
has acquired certain hereinafter described real property for, road
right-of-way and other public use purposes; and
WHEREAS, said City of Clearwater,desires that the Board of County
COlrumissioners of pinellas County discharge any and all liens for taxes
from the date of acquisition by said C.lty held or owned by the County
or State of Florida upon said lands heretofore acquired by said City
of Cl~ter: and to further provide that Raid lands shall be exempt
from County taxation so long as the same are owned and used for such
public purpose; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes 196.28, Cancellation of delinquent
taxes upon lands used for road purposes, etc., grants to the Board
of County Commissioners of Pinellas County, Florida, full power and
authority to accomplish this request; and
WHEREAS, in order to comply with the policy of said Board, the
City of Clearwater is willing to guarantee payment of taxes prior
to the date of transfer on the hereinafter described property when
the tax rolls reflect the proper amount and the City is billed for
that amount;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
CO~ISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby formally requests the
Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County, Florida, to take
all formal a~tion necessary to cancel and discharge any and all liens
for taxes, from the date of acquisition by said City, held or owned
by Pinellas County or the State of Florida, Upon the lands acquired
by the City of Clearwater for public pu:rposes, which lands are more'
particularly set out in the Deeds attached hereto as Exhibit A and
, made a part hereof, and to provide that said lands shall be exempt
from County taxation so long as the same are used for such public
purpose.
2. That the City of Clearwater guarantees payment of taxes prior
to the date of transfer on the hereinabove described properties when
the tax rolls reflect the proper amount and the city is billed for
that amount.
3. That a certified copy of this Resolution be delivered forthwith
to the County Administrator for Pinellas County, Florida.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th d~arCh' A.D. 1985.
