PENSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
CITY OF CLEARWATER

The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.
To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not
necessarily discussed in that order.
2 - Approval of Minutes – December 13, 2007
Member Doran moved to approve the minutes of the regular Pension Advisory
Committee meeting of December 13, 2007, as submitted in written summation to each board
member. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
3 – Employees to be Heard – None.
4 – Action Items:
a. Review and Action on Employee Requests for Regular Pensions:
1. Ralph D. Basnight/Gas
Member Petersen moved to approve the request for a regular pension for Ralph D.
Basnight. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
b. Review and Action on Employee Requests to Vest Pensions:
1. Amy Courtney, Customer Service
Amy Courtney, Customer Service, has resigned her position after being employed by the
City for more than 10 years. She will qualify to receive her reduced pension beginning
December 1, 2016.

2. Alan Uhr, Police
Alan Uhr, Police, has changed status from full-time to part-time after being employed by
the City as a full-time employee for more than 10 years. He will qualify to receive his reduced
pension beginning December 1, 2009.
Member Schmalzbauer moved to recommend approval of the requests by Amy Courtney
and Alan Uhr to vest their pensions. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
c. Approval of New Hires as Plan Members:

5 – Pending/New Business – None.
6 – Director’s Reports
Human Resources Manager Joe Roseto said money is budgeted for PAC (Pension
Advisory Committee) members to attend the Pension Attorney’s annual training conference in
Ft. Lauderdale, March 9 – 12, 2008. In response to a comment, Mr. Roseto said union
members on the PAC serve as City employees.
Finance Director Margie Simmons and Member Jensen reported on additional training
seminars regarding actuary and investment issues.

7 - Committee Members to be Heard
Member Doran said he had missed last month's meeting as instead he landed and was
launched off the deck of the USS Ronald Reagan.

The meeting adjourned at 9:07 a.m.
