Re: Community Development Block Grant, S.A.I. #77~3032,
Clearwater, FL. Pinellas County Various Community Projects
Dear Mr. Lovell:
In accordance with the procedures contained in 36 C.F.R.,
Part 800 ("Procedures for the Protection of Historic and
Cultural Properties"), we have reviewed the above referenced
project for possible impact to archaeological and historical
sites or properties listed, or eligible for listing, in the
National Register of Historic Places. The authorities for
these procedures are the National Historic Preservation Act of
1966 (Public Law 89-665) as amended by P.L. 91-243, P.L. 93-
54, P.L. 94-422, and P.L. 94-458, and Presidential Executive
Order 11593 ("Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural
Environment").
A review of the Florida Master Site file indicates the
existence of two (2) archaeological sites within the City of
Clearwater, T. 29S., R. 15E. Although it is unlikely that the
above referenced projects will have an adverse impact upon
these sites, it will be necessary for the applicant to submit
to this office a map showing the specific locations of the
proposed projects to be funded by the Community Development
Block Grant Program. This map will allow the Division of
Archives, History and Records Management to inform the appli-
cant whether any of the proposed projects will adversely
affect sites which may be eligible for listing in the National
Register of Historic Places,. or which may otherwise be of
national, state, or local significance.
Also, we request that you refer to your 1976 Volunteers
