I really just emailed Nate a couple days ago and wasn't expecting to hear from him so quickly! Nate called me a little while ago and he is awesome! He'd already assessed everything before he called, then he talked through everything with me and gave me a rough overview of the process. We agreed to discuss again after the holidays. I told him that, while it's important, it's not an emergency on my end and mid-January would actually be fine. He said it probably wouldn't be that long before I heard back from him. I really liked that he was so forthcoming about the process, while still very on top of everything. (It probably helps that I've had to deal with Pinellas County over the years and understand red tape and processes! Ha!). Anyway, I recognize that working for the City, County or local government many times only brings disgruntled people to those employed; so I wanted to thank YOU again for everything you helped me with...and to let you know that you have another great guy on your team in Nate. I'll call Kevin at Clearwater Monument after Nate and I work out more of the details (he even gave me some great help with regard to the headstone). LOU Wanda (Ward - foot of Space 2) and I went by the burial plots to see her mother's grave and where she herself will be buried...and there was a giant tree that had fallen! The headstone for her father and mother (spaces 1 & 2, respectively) was cracked and askew (quite the feat!). Space 2 was caved in and we have no idea where the casket is. Spaces 3 & 4 for her younger brother and son (respectively) are non-existent. Who do we call? What do we do? Would you have an update on the spaces? Usually, the funeral home contacts me or staff here in the city clerk's office to ask us to flag the space. The family will have (after you've made copies and given them) all the block/lot/space numbers that the funeral home will need. They ask us to flag the appropriate space. No paper usually changes hands. Our notes will match up with what the family asks for. I've notarized each page with the notes. Please let me know if anything else is needed. Karen, We still have yet to get the stump removed from the tree in question. Once we have the ability to get this removed and soil leveled out etc we will do so. We have obviously been taking down and removing the hazard trees throughout town and are still in the end of that process. I cannot give you an exact timeline on when this will be accomplished but this site will be on top of our priority list of sites. As far as the damaged headstone goes it is the owners responsibility to make the repairs as this is an act of god and not caused by our own staff or any other. I would reach out to whomever originally installed the headstone to make these repairs. Let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you.
