Re: Replacement of Overhead Ground Wire (Maintenance) on Florida Transmission
Facilities within the City of Cearwater.
Dear City Clerk Dept.
Florida Power Corporation (FPC) is proposing to replace the overhead ground wire (OHG) on
existing FPC Transmission Lines with optical (fiber optic) ground wire OPGW. The OHG wire,
as you may know, is located at the" top" position of the transmission structures, therefore the
replacement of this wire with the new OPGW (in this same position) will not impact existing
clearances over roadway crossings.
Construction for this project consists of changing clamps at each structure and using the existing
wire to pull in the new wire, and is scheduled to begin mid-March, 1999. No replacement or
alteration of the existing transmission structures will be necessary to accomplish the change out.
Construction does not anticipate any work to be done within the limits of the road right-of-ways.
[Helicopters may be used for this installation process.] Should construction require a
maintenance of traffic plan, the appropriate Index will be forwarded to your office for approval,
a minimum of 48 hours prior to construction.
A vicinity map is enclosed showing the location of the project within the City of Clearwater. If
you should have any questions concerning this project, please contact my office at your
convemence.
Thank you for your assistance, we look forward to working with you in the future.
Very truly yours,
FLORIDA POWER CORPORATION
