Sullivan Board Reporter The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall. To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not necessarily discussed in that order. The Chair welcomed new committee member, John Lee. ITEM #2 - Approval of Minutes In reference to page 3, under Director’s Report, it was noted the first sentence should read, “The next meeting is scheduled for July 13, 2000, at 9:00 a.m.” Member Johnson moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of June 8, 2000, as corrected. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #3 - Employees to be Heard – None. ITEM #4 - Action Items a) Review and Action on Employee Request for Years of Service Pension 1. David E. Krieger, Police Officer – Police Department Human Resources Administrator Paul O’Rourke said the court had ruled the Pension Plan must credit this employee with 1,449 days of service. In response to a question, Pension Plan Attorney Lee Dehner said the City’s chances for succeeding on appeal are slim. Member Johnson moved to approve the request by David E. Krieger for a Years of Service Pension. The motion was duly seconded. Members Johnson, Greer, Fitzgerald, Schmalzbauer, and Lee and Chair Aungst voted “Aye”; Member Hart voted “Nay.” Motion carried. b) Approval of New Hires as Pension Plan Members As of July 5, 2000, the City had 1,690.2 FTEs and 1,779.8 budgeted positions. Member Greer moved to accept the following employees into membership in the Pension Plan: Date of Pension Employment Elig. Analyst Prog.II Information Tech. 06/12/00 06/12/00 Barbara Schill, Sr. Accountant Finance 06/19/00 06/19/00 The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #5 - Pending/New Business – None. ITEM #6 - Director's Reports The next meeting is scheduled for August 10, 2000, at 9:00 a.m. Senate Bill 372 Mr. Dehner said he is working with Finance Administrator Margie Simmons regarding new State requirements related to the Pension Plan’s policy statement. The changes are not substantive and relate to filing dates, notification and reporting requirements, and policies. Request for Inclusion in Pension Plan Mr. O’Rourke reported Police Chief Sid Klein and Deputy Police Chief Bill Baird have requested to be included in the Pension Plan. Mr. Dehner will research the issue and provide his opinion to the committee. ITEM #7 - Committee Members to be Heard – None. ITEM #8 - Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 9:09 a.m.
