1. Call To Order
The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes
2.1 Approve the minutes of the April 11, 2024 Special Sister Cities Board Meeting.
Board Member Teixeira moved to approve the minutes of the Aprill 11,
2024 Sister Cities meeting as submitted in written summation. The
motion was duly 2nd and carried unanimously.
3. Citizens to be Heard Regarding Items Not on the Agenda
4. New Business Items
4.1 Meeting with New Mayor of Ixmiquilpan, Mexico
Arts and Cultural Affairs Manager Amber Brice said the Mayor Elect of
Ixmiquilpan, Mexico traveled to Clearwater. They spoke about possible
teacher and student exchanges as well as requested assistance in
acquisition of medical equipment. It was said that staff would put the
Mayor Elect in touch with a non-profit group regarding the medical
supplies.
In response to a question, Ms. Brice said Council was invited to attend
the closing ceremonies of their summer camp.
4.2 Orientation Presentation for Clearwater Delegation to Nagano, Japan
Ms. Brice provided a PowerPoint presentation on the upcoming trip to
Nagano, Japan scheduled for October 8-18, 2024. In response to
questions, Ms. Brice provided travel suggestions and cultural insights for
a successful trip.

Board Member Stephanie ChiII said the middle school exchange recap
will be August 28, 2024 at 6:30.

Board Member Indira said high school students participated in Japanese
school activities while being hosted there.
Board Member Bacon said the Clearwater Arts Alliance is coordinating
an exhibition of Japanese art in conjunction with the upcoming
delegation trip and said the Historical Society is looking for items that
have been received in the past years from the relationship with Nagano.
Board Member Kantor said it is important to understand Japanese
etiquette when visiting.
In response to a question, Ms. Brice said the next scheduled meeting will
be cancelled.
The meeting adjourned at 4:37 p.m.
