GYPSUM DRYWALL Gypsum wallboard products: a. Standard gypsum wallboard shall be 480 wide with tapered edges, 23/64" thick and shall conform to ASTM C-36 Water resistant gypsum wallboard shall be self-furring 48" wide sheets. 23/64" thick and conform to ASTM C-36. Products and metal accessories: a. Corner beads and casing beads shall be standard galvanized steel section and manufactured for use with drywall construction. b. Nails shall be annular ring nods conforming to AS1M C-380, d. Screws shall be self-drilling, corrosion resistant screws with phillip heads. 3. Drywall installation: a. The gypsum wallboard shall be installed by an approved. experienced drywall applicator normally engaged in this trade. Water resistant gypsum wallboard shall be applied to walls in toilet rooms Gypsum wallboard of maximum practical length shall be used so that an absolute minimum number of end joints occur. Boards shall be brought into contact with each other but shall not be forced into place. Gypsum board joints at openings shall be located so that no end joint will align with edges of openings. All end joints shall be staggered. Apply gypsum board with the length at right angles to the supporting members. Center abutting ends or edges over supports. Fasteners shall be spaced not less than 3/8" from ends and edges of wallboard. Wallboard shall be held in firm contact with support slightly below the surface of the wallboard with care being taken while fasteners are being placed. Heads shall be dimpled to break the parer face. Apply gypsum board with fasteners spaced 12" on center in the field and 8" on center along vertical edges. All joints. internal angles. dimpled corners and edges shall be reinforced and finished using the 3-coat system. Allow 24 hours for drying time between applications of cement.
