To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not necessarily discussed in that order.
The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:42 p.m. at the Municipal Services Building.
ITEM #2 – Approval of Minutes of Parks and Recreation Board meeting of February 28, 2000 - It was noted the minutes did not reflect Member Harris’ absence from the February meeting.
Member Lindner moved to approve the minutes as corrected and submitted in written summation to each board member. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
ITEM #3 – Correspondence - None
ITEM #4 – Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update –
Mr. Chin said a questionnaire on services and facilities desired by City residents is being developed. Input will be sought from staff, the Board and the Beautification Committee. The
questionnaire will be the basis of a survey conducted through public group meetings, mass mailings and phone surveys. Suggestions from board members included utilizing C-View, surveys
in malls, publish surveys on the Internet, contact homeowners associations, and mailings with utility bills.
ITEM #5 –Old Business
Capital Project Update –
Bayfront Tennis Courts – Member Lindner commented that courts were red on green instead of green and light green. Discussion ensued. Member Cashman said she would research the tennis
community to see if there is a trend in colors.
McMullen Tennis Complex – In response to a question from Member Lindner regarding progress, Mr. Chin said he has finished the design, and expects construction to begin the end of May.
Member Cashman remarked the tennis season begins in September and it is hoped courts would be completed by then.
Ray Green Field – Mr. Miller said some nearby property has been acquired toward building the North Greenwood Recreation Complex.
Morningside Pool – Mr. Miller said renovation is coming from a FRDAP grant. Mr. Chin said the pool is expected to open May 1.
SPJC – Mr. Miller said the college expects to vacate the field house at semester end.
Landscaping on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard – Member Swanberg noted some plants in medians are dying. Mr. Chin said he would contact the Parts and Beautification Group.
b) Upcoming Recreation Events – Mr. Miller distributed the April Calendar of Recreation Activities highlighting Summer Camps, Easter activities and Fun ‘n Sun events.
ITEM #6 – New Business
Member Ruben brought up for discussion an article in the Clearwater Times relative to department projects. Mr. Miller said some were established as Penny for Pinellas projects years
ago, including the addition to Countryside Recreation Center, and building North and South Greenwood Recreation centers.

The meeting adjourned at 7:32 p.m. The April 24 meeting site has been changed from the McMullen Tennis Complex to the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex.
