It IS our contentIon that Pinellas County should object to the annexation on the grounds that the property sought to be annexed does not meet the criteria required by Florida Statute Section 171.043(2), which defines urban purposes as follows: (a) It has a total resident population equal to at least two persons for each acre of land included within its boundaries, (b) It has a total reSident populatIOn equal to at least one person for each acre of land included within its boundaries and is subdivided into lots and tracts so that at least 60 percent of the total number of lots and tracts are 1 acre or less in size, or Pmellas Planning CouncIl Page 3 June 13, 2005 School Board For reasons known only to the City of Clearwater, they have since withdrawn their application to the County and opted to pursue the lengthier and more complex option of annexation, thereby removing any oversight by Pinellas County For these reasons, we respectfully request that the Planning Council and the Board of County Commissioners in their capacity as the Countywide Planning Authonty seek a full review of this annexation petItIon for compliance with the terms of Chapter 2, Article VII of the Pinellas County Code and Chapter 171 of the Florida Statutes.
