4.1 Review Parks & Recreation projects update
In response to questions, Planning and Project Manager Jim Halios
said Engineering was applying for federal and state grants to alleviate
clogging of the waterways at Coopers Point, the size of the project will
depend on funding. Four additional tennis courts will be constructed at the
McMullen Tennis Complex, funds were insufficient to upgrade the
clubhouse. Lighting will be installed at the Morningside and McMullen
tennis courts under a single contract. Due to stormwater issues at the
Long Center multiuse fields, a portion of the fields will be redesigned to
mitigate stormwater and add geo tech parking spaces, the fields were
not regulation size for soccer or football. Funding to upgrade the Coachman
Ridge Park was limited, plans were to add a basketball half court next year.
When the County replaces the narrow bridge on Old Coachman Road, it
will replace the nearby pedestrian bridge. No land acquisitions were
proposed.
