ITEM 1 – Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:32 P.M.
ITEM 2 – Roll Call and Approval of Minutes from 3-27-02 Meeting
Members introduced themselves. Member Long moved to approve the minutes of the March 27, 2002 meeting. Member Horwitz seconded the Motion, which carried unanimously.
ITEM 3 – COMMUNITY RELATIONS BOARD PLANNING
A Membership: The two new board members, Candance Gardner and Melissa Horwitz were welcomed to the Board. Eleanor Breland outlined the Board’s history. Ms. Breland and Robert Reece
reviewed the goals and purposes of the Study Circles program. Members discussed the benefit of conducting Study Circles in Clearwater’s Hispanic Community and stated that an effort
should be made to train facilitators who speak Spanish and have contacts in the community. It was further discussed that it would be beneficial to have a Hispanic community representative
on the Board.
B. Study Circle Facilitator Training: Robert Reece reviewed the study circle train-the-trainer sessions that some of the board members have attended for the new members. Another
training session will be scheduled during the first quarter of 2003 so that all board members can be trained as facilitators.
C. Election of Officers:
CHAIR: Robert Reece nominated Johnny Long for Chair. Melissa Horwitz seconded the Motion, which carried unanimously. VICE-CHAIR: Johnny Long nominated Candace Gardner for Vice-Chair.
Melissa Horwitz seconded the Motion, which carried unanimously.
ITEM 4 – New Business
No new business was discussed.
ITEM 5 - Adjournment
Member Gardner moved to adjourn. Member Horwitz seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 P.M.
