The City CoIIunission oY the City of Clearwater held
an Adjourned'Mesting (from.September 23rd) in the City
Hall at i'ive o'clock on the afternoon of September 24th,
1940, with the foll.owing memb$rs present: �

Purpose oP the meeting was to dete-rnine the method
oP � p�ch�ses of gasoline �l from local oil
dealers at tank car prices :.ess one and one-half cents per gallon '
F'ederal Ts�.
After a discussion between the oil dealers and the Gity
Coanniss3on, �t was decid�d to rot�te between the companies,
letting �ach represen�ative oP the oil companies drativ a
number from the hat and :cs guided by the number hz would
draw, placing them numerically to supply gasoline Por the
Citg Por �the next succeeding three months. 2'he drawing

Mrs. Beach presented a prool�mation asking the
Co�nission to set aside Sunday Sep�ember 29th as a day �
of prayer for the people of Great Britain. The Commissl.on
decided tlaey v,rould be glad to make a�a ameudment to this
proclamation to include not only Great Br-itain. but all
the war stricken cotzntries,

I�4r. Tilley a_opeared before the Co�ission and asked
tha*�, to pass an Ordinance protecting the merchants against
outsiders coming and holding auction sales of inerchandise.
Zhe City Attorney- was instructed to draw such an Ordinanc�
and present it at the next meetin�.
Mre J`. D. Baskin submitted an oP�er oP � 800.00 for
a strip of land. on the northwest corner of Cleveland Street
and San Remq Avenue, 400 fest i'acing on C1evQl�nd Street
and running back 125 i"eet; and restricting the adjoining
property to � 2,000.-00 buildings. No aetion was taken.
Mr. Fra.nk Year�vood, representing G. 4Y. Meacham,
submitte�3 an oi'fer of � 2,000.00 Per Zots 1& 2 Block B
Za J'olla, payable � 350.00 cash and balance payable
6-12-18 & 24 mon�hs with interesti at 6f per annum payabls

learwood. Purchaser to pay 1941 and subsequent taxes.

carried that the offer be accepted.

b4r. Elwood presented a petition signed by a number of
Clearvaater citizens, t�ecompanied by a sketch of proposed
Fark to be l�own as "Tropical Gardens ". Mr. Elwood stated
that this �ark would be used as a recreation�center, and
' asked the Gitg ior their consideration in the_puchase of
this tract oi land and dedicating same fox the use of
this Park.
14ioved by Mr. Norton, second�d by I�4r. Seavy and
unanimously e�rxied that the Mayor a.ppoint a commititee
to work with �he Par.ks Committee and see what can be
worked out. Nlr. Norton, the Citp Itiianager, City Engineer •
anc] City Attorney were appointed on this Committee bp
the Mayor.
' Nir. Sanches, representin� Sun 0il Company, asked -
permission for a Permit to inst�ll a one thousand
� gal1.on'gas tank instead of a i'i�e hundred and Pifty
gallon tank as provided by the City Building Code.
Moved by Mr. Dempsey, seconded by D�r. Seavy and '
unanimously carlied that the permit be gr��nted, subject
to the approval of the'Fire Ck�ie�.
Mr. Ed Dillard asked the Commission for a laase
on a strip oY l�nd on west side oi Imperial Docks operated
by n4r, Lowe, Por the purpose of erecting a boat shed and
. tackle room. Moved by Mro Norton, seconded by P.4r. Seavy
and unanimouslg carried that the City Attorney be insLructed
to draw such a lease; expir�tion Qf le�ase to coineide with
' L�owe's lease, subject to approval o� �the City n4anager.
Rents iirt�en dollars (� 15.00) per manth Tor i'irst two
V years and twentg-rive dollars (� 25.00) per month for
remainder of lease.

Cormnisaion, asking thati their lease be renewed.
Expiration of new lease to coincide vrith �bhe expiration
or Lowe's lease. Moved by iJlr. Dempsey, seconded by Mr.
Norton an<1 unani.mausly carried that the Cit� Attorney

meeting.
Mr. Frank Y'earVtood presented an oY'fer of- $� 600.00
on Lo� l0 Block 8 oP North Shore Park; City to pay
commission of five percent (5f) to rdr. Yearwood and

Purnish abstract. Moved by �r. hTorton, seconded by
Mr. Seavy and carried that the o*'rer be accepted sut�ject
to approval of I�r. Dempsey. (Mr. iDempsey's approval was
received l�ter).
Moved by I�ir. Norton, seconded by Mr. Dempsey an3
unanimously carried that the purchase or a car of gas
pipe, amo�tnting to approximately � 2,300.00 from
Stoutamire Hardware Company be approved.
The Mayor presented proposal of D. G. Haley,
attorney, represenLing syndicate interested in New
` Country C?ub Addition, nortk� oi S. A. I�. Railway. Haley
agreeing to release City of' stipulation made in Court
Order ATumber if City would be agreeable in
accepLing west 40 acres and release all or their rights
ineZuding City taxes on east 40 acres. IQoved by Mr.
Seavy, seconded by Mr. Norton and unanimously car�ied
. that Mr. Haley's proposition be aeccpted.
