The purpose of this letter is to confirm that Building Drops, Inc. is in the process of updating FL5822 to incorporate new
product testing performed under Blackwater Testing, Inc.'s report # BT -SVP -18-001 & BT -SVP -18-002, and to affirm that
the product specifications, drawings and testing as listed on FL5582-R6 are compliant with 6th Edition FBC requirements.
New product testing has been successfully performed with the Smart Vent Insulated Flood Vent Overhead Door Model
#1540-524/574 installed as an integral part of an overhead door assembly to demonstrate the structural performance of
the overall system. Therefore in my professional opinion the product is acceptable for installations permitted under the
6th Edition FBC for installations that meet the minimum requirements of the limitations as stated on installation drawing
1540-524 and 1540-574 and PER5792 as shown under FL5822.5-R6 and FL5822.7-R6, provided that site required ASD wind
loads do not exceed the tested rating of +41/-46.3 psf. Door construction shall comply with the requirements of 1-5/16"
maximum thickness, 27 gauge exterior and 29 gauge interior minimum skin thicknesses, and polyurethane foam core of
minimum 1 lb. density or approved equivalent.
Note that updated documentation has been posted to the Florida Building Code Information System website reflecting
testing conducted under BT -SVP -18-001, and is currently set to.a status of "Pending FBC Approval" and is subject to
approval at the August 15th Florida Building Commission Meeting. Upon approval FL5822-R7 will be submitted, updating
the documentation to reflect the reduced gauge thickness and other aspects of door construction as per BT -SVP -18-002.
