10/25/1995 CITY COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING October 25, 1995 Present: Rita Garvey Mayor/Commissioner Sue A. Berfield Vice-Mayor/Commissioner William Justice Commissioner William C. Baker Assistant City Manager Pamela K. Akin City Attorney Cynthia E. Goudeau City Clerk Mary K. Diana Assistant City Clerk Absent: Fred A. Thomas Commissioner J.B. Johnson Commissioner The City Commission of the City of Clearwater met in special session at City Hall, Wednesday, October 25, 1995 at 12:01 p.m. The purpose of the special meeting was to canvass the returns of the October 24, 1995 Special Election. The City Clerk presented three (3) certificates of testing of the automatic tabulating equipment dated as follows: October 18, 1995 - 8:32 a.m. October 24, 1995 - 6:35 p.m. October 24, 1995 - 8:45 p.m. Commissioner Justice moved to accept the three (3) certificates of testing. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. The City Clerk presented the tabulations of votes as follows: Total returned 616 Questionable 19 No Signature 4 No Witness 7 One Witness - No Title 5 One Witness - With Title 2 Signed for Voter 1 Total rejected as illegal 19 Total absentee ballots processed 597 Tabulations of votes (Cont’d) Total Precinct and Absentee Ballots: City Commissioner, Seat 4 (Unexpired Term to 4/2/98) Bernie Baron 702 Bob Clark 4,796 Bill Kirbas 1,907 Referendum Question: Yes No #1 - Ord 5890-95, Employee’s Pension Plan Changes 5,315 1,789 Total ballots cast: 7,511 (11.55% Total) Total Registered Voters: 65,006 Commissioner Berfield moved to accept the City Clerk’s report and declare the results as reported official. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. Commissioner Justice moved to declare Bob Clark elected to Commission Seat No. 4. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. Commissioner Berfield moved to accept Referendum Question 1 approved. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. The City Clerk recognized Assistant City Clerk Diana for her part in preparing for the election and thanked everyone involved in helping to make it run smoothly. The meeting adjourned at 12:05 p.m.
