03/10/1993 CITY COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING March 10, 1993 The City Commission of the City of Clearwater met at City Hall, Thursday, March 10, 1993 at 12:00 noon, with the following members present: Rita Garvey Mayor/Commissioner Richard Fitzgerald Vice-Mayor/Commissioner Sue A. Berfield Commissioner Mayme W. Hodges Commissioner Absent: Arthur X. Deegan, II Commissioner Also present: Michael J. Wright City Manager M.A. Galbraith, Jr. City Attorney Cynthia E. Goudeau City Clerk Mary K. Diana Assistant City Clerk The purpose of the special meeting was to canvass the returns from the March 9, 1993 election. The City Clerk presented three (3) certificates of testing of the automatic tabulating equipment dated as follows: March 3, 1993 - 4:10 p.m. March 9, 1993 - 4:00 p.m. March 9, 1993 - 8:55 p.m. Commissioner Fitzgerald moved to accept the three (3) certificates of testing. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. The City Clerk presented the tabulations of votes for the 50 precincts and they are as follows: Mayor/Commissioner - Seat 1 (three year term) Rita Garvey 5,683 Charles F. Lecher 1,858 Lee Regulski 4,376 Bill Weller 522 City Commission - Seat 2 (three year term) Lucius H. Pitts 3,822 Fred A. Thomas 8,387 B. Absentee Ballot Report: Total returned 669 No Signature 3 - rejected No Witness 7 - rejected Signature Variations 1 - accepted One witness - no title 6 - rejected Signed each others 2 - accepted Total rejected as invalid 16 Total accepted 3 Total absentee ballots processed 653 C. Absentee Ballot Tabulations: Mayor/Commissioner - Seat 1 (three year term) Rita Garvey 292 Charles F. Lecher 87 Lee Regulski 227 Bill Weller 34 City Commission - Seat 2 (three year term) Lucius H. Pitts 176 Fred A. Thomas 456 D. Total Precinct and Absentee Ballots: Mayor/Commissioner - Seat 1 (three year term) Rita Garvey 5,975 Charles F. Lecher 1,945 Lee Regulski 4,603 Bill Weller 556 City Commission - Seat 2 (three year term) Lucius H. Pitts 3,998 Fred A. Thomas 8,843 Total ballots cast 13,224 Total registered voters 58,397 Percentage of turnout 22.64% Commissioner Berfield moved to accept the City Clerk's report and declare the results as reported official. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. Commissioner Fitzgerald moved to declare Rita Garvey re-elected to Mayor/Commissioner Seat No. 1. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. Commissioner Fitzgerald moved to declare Fred A. Thomas elected to Commissioner Seat No. 2. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m.
