McMullen-Booth does need to be improved but perhaps
not in such a grandiose fashion;
there is a need for the 49th Street bridge;
they understand the concern that this will become a
part of the state highway system;
suggested McMullen-Booth be widened to four lanes with
left-turn lane -- further widening should wait until needed;

discussed County Resolution 86-3 endorsing a 4-lane
divided road;
discussed whether the proposed bridge will be a toll road;
enhancement of U.S. 19 may find the City of Clearwater
divided which would inconvenience police, fire, paramedics
and other services;
possibility that money saved by not building extra
lanes on McMullen-Booth may allow the 49th Street bridge
to be a free bridge;
their willingness to meet with the County Commission,
perhaps at Countryside High School, to discuss this
matter with the citizens;
the 49th Street bridge has been in conceptual design
for 15 or more years; and
informed the citizens that this would not be a referendum
issue.

Mrs. Portner will be the contact person for any information the City
receives regarding this project. The first request is that we discover
precisely what kinds of strings, if any, are attached to the $500,000 State
money for the 49th Street Bridge study.
2. Mohammad Abdul Rahim, 1028 Madison Avenue North, Clearwater, FL

will be taking place and requests that Greenwood Avenue be widened to
Palmetto Street to take care of the traffic needs.

Mr. Rahim requests that this be made into a 24-hour pOlice station and that

and hopes that pOlice response will be better because of it.
The Commission informed the citizens of the police-aide program
and indicated that this program may be of assistance in pOlice services.
