11/09/1988 CITY COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING November 9, 1988 The City Commission of the City of Clearwater met in special session at the City Hall, Wednesday, November 9, 1988, at 12:03 p.m., with the following members present: Rita Garvey Mayor/Commissioner Lee Regulski Commissioner Don Winner Commissioner William Nunamaker Commissioner Absent: James L. Berfield Vice-Mayor/Commissioner Also present: Cynthia E. Goudeau City Clerk The Mayor called the meeting to order. The purpose of the meeting was to canvass ballots. The City Clerk read into the record a Verification letter from Supervisor of Elections office as follows: "This is to verify that as of 8:21 a.m. November 9, 1988, the tally for the City of Clearwater's referendum questions on the November 8, 1988 General Election Ballot were as follows: Question #1 - Removal of the 45 year age limitation YES 24,009 60.16% NO 12,281 33.84% TOTAL 36,290 Question #2 - $300 per month minimum pension YES 21,921 60.19% NO 14,498 37.81% TOTAL 36,419 A recount is being done at this time, and additional absentee ballots are being counted. However, it is very unlikely that there would be a change in the results for these two questions." On the advice of the City Attorney, we should accept this letter of veri- fication at this meeting and then approve the final count at the November 17, 1988 meeting. Commissioner Winner moved to accept the verification of vote letter from the Supervisor of Elections. Motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 12:07 p.m.
