Harrison, Treasurer Philadelphia National League Club Packard Building Philadelphia 2, Pennsylvania Dear Mr. Harrison: Replying to yours of October 26, relative to the con- tract between your Baseball Club and the City of Clearwater Dated March 3, 1947,E You forwarded to us under date of September 5, 1947 $3,000.00 and on October 20, 1947, :3,000.00 or a total of $6,000.00 to be expended for improvements to the baseball field. Under date of June 12, 1948 we forwarded to you a check for :500.00 in accordance with the contract. The present balance of the amount you forwarded to the City is $5,500.00. The contract states the City will refund to you $500.00 each year that your Club conducts spring training in the City of Clearwater for a period of ten (10) years from the date of the Contract but not to exceed a total of $5,000.00; It is assumed that after your Spring training in 1949, the City,acoording to your Contract should pay you 0 500.00, and so on during the balance of the term of the contract. Lybraa d, Ross Bros. and Montgomers, 2101 Packard Building, Philadelphia 2, Pa., are now making their usual examination of our accounts. In connection therewith they desire to verify that we have advanced $5,500. to you in accordance with the terms of a lease between the City of Clearwater and the Phila- delphia National League Club dated March 3, 1947; Under the terms of said lease this advance of $5,500. is to he expended for installation of a sprinkler system and other im- provements to the Municipal Baseball Park and any unexpended balance to be returned to us. In addition the City of Clearwater is to pay us the sum of $500. or 10% of the amount expended above, whichever is the smaller, annually from January 1, 1949 and con- tinuing to and including January 1, 1957 providing the Philadelphia National League Club Conducts spring training in the City of Clearwater each of the above years.
