A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER
REQUESTING A LEASE FROM THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
FOR THE SITE OF THE FORMER FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION CLEARWATER
CONSTRUCTION OFFICE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation no longer needs the
Clearwater Construction Office located at 3204 Gulf -to -Bay Boulevard located east of the
intersection of SR60 and Bayshore Boulevard;
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater initially owned the parcel and issued a warranty
deed to the Florida Department of Transportation for its use as a construction office in
1957, and the parcel was subsequently transferred to the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection;
WHEREAS, the City desires to utilize the site to support the Courtney Campbell
Trail and the Bayshore Trail and other city functions by providing restrooms, parking, a
welcome center, other offices and amenities;
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection does not have the
ability to directly transfer the property to the City of Clearwater, but will entertain a request
for lease in the amount of $300 annually;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council formally requests a lease from the Florida Department
of Environmental Protection for the site of the former Florida Department of Transportation
Clearwater Construction Office.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
