16-25RESOLUTION NO. 16 -25 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING A PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL TASK WORK ORDER BY THE PINELLAS SUNCOAST TRANSIT AUTHORITY (PSTA) RELATED TO PLANNING AND DESIGN OF AN INTERMODAL CENTER ON PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY OF CLEARWATER AND LOCATED AT 710 COURT STREET, DETERMINED TO BE THE PREFERRED LOCATION OF A PSTA INTERMODAL CENTER; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater (City) purchased property in 2011, located at 710 Court Street, as a preferred location for a Downtown Intermodal Facility; and WHEREAS, the City owns property adjacent to the preferred location which may also be available for a Downtown Intermodal Facility; WHEREAS, the City has a project entitled Downtown Intermodal Facility within the approved Penny for Pinellas Local Option Sales Tax levy for 2010 -2020 in the amount of $2,425,000; and WHEREAS, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) proposes to replace its aging Park Street Transfer Center with an Intermodal Facility that will accommodate service changes resulting in need for recovery areas and potential transit alternatives in the future; WHEREAS, PSTA has grant funds in the amount of $1.25 million to fund planning and design of a "shovel- ready" Intermodal Facility to pursue grant opportunities for construction funds; and WHEREAS, the City and PSTA will work collaboratively to include other features, as required and feasible, into the planning and design, including possible elevated transit station or other city supported facilities; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Council approves the preferred Downtown Intermodal Facility location, inclusive of the properties at 710 Court Street, as illustrated in Exhibit "A," which is attached hereto, for purposes of planning and design. Section 2. The City is interested in selling and /or exchanging all or some portion of the preferred location for a Downtown Intermodal Facility. 1 Resolution 16 -25 Section 3.
