The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
The City Manager reviewed development opportunities for the “Dimmitt” property on Cleveland Street. The City purchased the rear lots for the Town Pond previously and will close on
the remaining property by February. While the CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) wishes to move forward with a town home development, the Library Search Committee chose the site for
the new main library. The RFP/Q (Request for Proposals/Qualifications) for Downtown redevelopment considers a new main library as significant to Downtown efforts. Housing also is important
for long term development as it brings about a 24-hour Downtown. Assistant City Manager Bib Keller reviewed townhouse proposals by Centax and Balk.
It was recommended the development reflect design elements of Cleveland Street streetscaping improvements. It was indicated the Library Task Force had considered 4 sites and had chosen
this location for the new main library. It was suggested the townhouse development seems to be an appropriate use of the property and will increase tax revenues. Concern was expressed
the new library should be constructed on the subject site.
The meeting adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
