Staff Assistant Jim Appelt Steve Swanberg Allen Weatherilt Board Member Board Member Board Member Mr. Wade called the meeting to order at 6:35pm at the Long Center. To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not necessarily discussed in that order. ITEM #2 - Approval of Minutes of Parks and Recreation Board Meeting of August 23. 2004. September 27. 2004. and October 25.2004 - Mr. Fletcher moved to approve the minutes as submitted to members. The motion was duly seconded and carried. ITEM #3 - Old Business - a) Capital Projects Update - Mr. Dunbar reviewed updates on the following projects: . Community Sports Complex - All items completed, except installing wheel chair lift. . Crest Lake Park - Grant money will be reinvested in the Park by building parking facilities for the dog park and other improvements. · Tennis Court Resurfacing - Tennis court resurfacing scheduled for Del Oro Park and Valencia Park. · Long Center - Plans are at 95%. Will be reviewed by Building Department and introduced to City Council by March for final approval. · Ross Norton Recreation Complex - Going well. Most of the floors are in, majority of walls are up, some roofs are completed. Scheduled date of completion is April 20, 2005. Mr. Dunbar would like to take members on a tour of the facility at that time. · Fencing Replacement Program - Just completed refencing Sid Lickton 6, 7. Also, updated the lighting and increased sidewalks. · Lighting Repair and Replacement - Upgrading Jack Russell Stadium and Soccer Fields at E.c. Moore. · Recreations Trails - The structure for the Flyover for East/West Trials is in and being stored at Del Oro Park. Project should take about one year; slating completion in June 2005. Mandalay Bridge - DOT is reviewing plans. Once DOT signs off, the City will open the project for bids. · EC Moore 8&9 - Competed, with exception of the batting tunnels which should be available for use by the first week of December. · Bayview Park - Designs are under way. The City is on task with the Management Plan for the State. City Commission has renamed Bayview Park to "Myron A. Smith Bayview Park". Ms. Wiand suggested reflecting the name change on the next CIP report. Parks & Recreation Ad visory 2004-1122 . . . . Glen Oaks Park - Award date scheduled for December 2004. Eighteen-month construction window. . Kapok Mobile Home Park - Mr. Dunbar advises the name will be changed to "Kapok Park". Completion date expected January 2006. b) Upcoming Recreation Events - In collaboration effort with various news media, such as the "Countryside Cougar" newspaper, Ms. Cornwell designed a new single-page layout listing City of Clearwater's upcoming events. This form of advertisement will be placed in local papers as an , effort to reach more citizens. Mr. Dunbar reviewed upcoming events with members. ITEM #4 New Business - a) Election of Officers - Mr. Dunbar read an email of November 15, 2004 from Mr. Appelt, submitting his name for consideration for the Chairman's position. Mr. Fletcher moved to nominate Mr. Jim Appelt as Chairman. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. Ms. Wiand moved to nominate Mr. Tom Fletcher as Vice-Chair. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. b) 2005 Meeting Calendar - The 2005 meeting dates for the Parks and Recreation Board was distributed to members. Mr. Dunbar explained the choices of off-site locations. ITEM #5 Adjournment - Members adjourned at 7:20 p.m. The next meeting will be held January 24, 2005 at The Long Center.
