Traffic cameras at most intersections are used for real time traffic management; images obtained from the cameras are not archived. The City's red-light cameras archives images obtained. Police Chief Slaughter said rear-end collisions at Chestnut Street/Ft. Harrison Avenue increased the first year but then decreased by ten points in 2013/2014. None of the rear-end collisions were attributable to red-light camera violations. The City changed the duration of amber lights when the Florida Department of Transportation approved the rule changes. Assistant City Attorney Rob Surette said Redflex is paid per approach, regardless of the number of citations issued. The City does not issue a violation when turning right on a red light.
