The meeting was called to order by the Chair at 11:02 a.m. in the Commission Chambers of City Hall. Chairman Pollick indicated this is a special meeting called to finalize in writing
the City's position relative to High Speed Rail (HSR) in order that it be expeditiously received in Tallahassee at the December 19, 1994 meeting of the High Speed Rail Commission.
Mr. Tim Johnson offered draft letters to Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and Citizens' Planning and Environmental Advisory Committee (CPEAC) dated December 12, 1994 for comments
and/or approval. Following perusal by members, Chairman Pollick introduced each paragraph.
Changes to the MPO letter were suggested; notably, 1) the priority order of reasons for consideration; 2) inclusion of Tampa International Airport with the Westshore destination; and
3) mention of Ordinance 94-104 as the City's commitment to HSR. Copies of the letters will be sent to Secretary Ben Watts; Charles Smith; and Nick Serianni, Public Transportation Administrator.
It will be verified whether High Speed Ground Transportation (HGST) would be the correct name to use for the proposed High Speed Rail. It was noted that Ordinance
94-104 establishes Clearwater Rapid Transit Task Force.
Mr. Bomstein made a motion to accept the draft letters to MPO and CPEAC with changes as noted. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
Following a brief discussion, Mr. Bomstein made a motion that Mr. Dan Brockway be charged with delivery of the final position letters in timely fashion. The motion was duly seconded
and
carried unanimously.
There being no further business before it, the High Speed Rail Task Force meeting adjourned at 1:53 p.m.
