TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION FUND MEETING

The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:12 a.m. at City Hall.
To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not
necessarily discussed in that order.
2 - Approval of Minutes:
Trustee Hibbard moved to approve the minutes of the October 18, 2004, meeting, as
motion
recorded and submitted in written summation by the City Clerk to each Trustee. The
carried
was duly seconded and unanimously.
3 - Accept the employees listed below into membership in the City of Clearwater’s Employees’
Pension Plan:
Human Resources Director Joe Roseto presented the recommendation of the Pension
Advisory Committee that the following employees be accepted into membership:
Teresa Scrima, Library Assistant/Library
Maxwell Jenkins, Solid Waste Worker/Solid Waste
Richard Allison, Landscape Architect/Parks & Recreation
Theodore Mellis, Electronic Technician/Engineering
Mark Pack, Solid Waste Worker/Solid Waste
Keyl Groff, Planner II/Planning
Jeff Camden, Fire Pub. Educ. & Information Specialist/Fire
Scott Rhodes, Solid Waste Worker/Solid Waste
Charles Shuman, Fleet Mechanic/General Services
Kevin Webb, Recreation Specialist/Parks & Recreation
Trustee Hamilton moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory

4 - Paul Hoobler. Public Utilities Department. be allowed to vest his pension under Section(s)
2.397 and 2.398 of the Emplovees' Pension Plan as approved bv the Pension Advisory
Committee.
Paul Hoobler, Wastewater Treatment Operator A, Public Utilities Department, was
employed by the City on October 4, 1982, and began participating in the Pension Plan on that
date. Mr. Hoobler terminated from City employment on September 2, 2004.
The Employees' Pension Plan provides that should an employee cease to be an
employee of the City of Clearwater after completing ten or more years of creditable service
(pension participation), such employee shall acquire a vested interest in the retirement benefits.
Vested pension payments commence on the first of the month following the month in which the
employee normally would have been eligible for retirement.
Section 2.393 (p) provides for normal retirement eligibility when a participant has
reached age 55 and completed twenty years of credited service, has completed 30 years of
credited service, or has reached age 65 and completed ten years of credited service. Mr.
Hoobler would have completed at least 20 years of service and reached age 55 on September
20, 2006. His pension will be effective October 1, 2006. This pension was approved by the
Pension Advisory Committee on October 14,2004.
Trustee Petersen moved to allow Paul Hoobler to vest his pension under Sections 2.397
and 2.398 of the Employees Pension Plan as approved by the Pension Advisory Committee.
The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
