MINUTES OF CLEARWATER HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD
May 21, 1996
The Clearwater Historic Preservation Board met on May 21,1996 at
the Plumb House on Greenwood Avenue at ):00 P.M.
Those present were Jean Stuart, Dave Barry, Margaret Kiehl, Don
McCarty of Central Permitting, Cookie Gilreath, new member, and
Ric Ortega, New member.
In the absence of a chairman, Mr. McCarty conducted the meeting.
Each member ,both old and new, introduced himself and gave a brief
sketch of his interest in historic preservation.
DaVIe Barry moved and it was seconded that the historic preservation
board meet in September in the new Municipal Service Complex and
tour the building. Motion carried.
Don McCarty gave a summary of the aims and guidelines of the
pasign Review Board of which he is a member.
He distributed "Design Guidelines" to board members. They ''1ii.ll be
discussed at the ne.t meeting.
Needs tobe emphasized-- historical appreciation might contain.
Communitywise there is small historic appreciation.
Discussion followed on some downtown paint jobs.
Mr. McCarty requested board members to note pages 4 andll of
"Guidelines~ Restorers and rehabilitators should be encouraged
to submit ~lors to the Design Review Board. There are design
prOfessionals repreJented ~. the Review Board.
There is a possibility of a new survey of historical buildings.
There may be some funding.
Harbor Oaks, Old Clearwater area, and Bayview want consideration
to be given an overlay zoning. Tft8 neighborhood wants to subject
to design regulations.
There being no further business, the meeting was concluded
at 4:10 PM.
