06/14/1999 TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION FUND MEETING CITY OF CLEARWATER June 14, 1999 Present: Brian J. Aungst Chair Ed Hooper Vice-Chair/Trustee J. B. Sullivan Board Reporter The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:11 p.m. at City Hall. To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not necessarily discussed in that order. ITEM #2 - Approval of Minutes Trustee Johnson moved to approve the minutes of the June 1, 1999, meeting, as motion recorded and submitted in written summation by the City Clerk to each Trustee. The carried was duly seconded and unanimously. ITEM #3 - Request for Acceptance into Membership The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee to approve membership for the employees listed below: Johnnie Allen Robert Scott Amy Mobley Michael Tennell Amy Ruscher Larry Labus Gary L. Jones Robert Defrez Nicole Elmore Scott Smith Tracy Jaeger Christine Burg Cherise Sarnoff Donald Fleming mpf06c99 1 06/14/99 Trustee Hooper moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory motioncarried Committee. The was duly seconded and unanimously. ITEM #4 - Request for Pension The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee Rosavelt Parker, James R. Davis, and Jean Strandlieregular pensions that be granted a under Section(s) 2.393 and 2.397 of the Employees' Pension Plan. Rosavelt Parker was employed on September 24, 1973, and his pension service credit is effective on March 25, 1974. His pension will be effective May 1, 1999. Based on an average salary of approximately $34,976 per year over the past five years, the formula for computing regular pensions, and Mr. Parker's selection of the Joint & Survivor Annuity, this pension will approximate $24,142 annually. James R. Davis was employed on June 16, 1972, and his pension service credit is effective on December 16, 1972. His pension will be effective July 1, 1999. Based on an average salary of approximately $32,613 per year over the past five years, the formula for computing regular pensions, and Mr. Davis' selection of the 100% Joint & Survivor Annuity, this pension will approximate $22,933 annually. Jean Strandlie was employed on April 1, 1968, and her pension service credit is effective on October 1, 1968. Her pension will be effective December 1, 1999. Based on an average salary of approximately $31,184 per year over the past five years, the formula for computing regular pensions, and Ms. Strandlie's selection of the 10-Year Certain & Life Annuity, this pension will approximate $29,153 annually. Section 2.393 (p) provides for normal retirement eligibility when a participant has reached age 55 and completed twenty years of credited service or has completed thirty years of credited service. Mr. Parker and Mr. Davis qualify under the age 55 and 20 years of service criteria. Ms. Strandlie qualifies under both criteria. The PAC (Pension Advisory Committee recommended approval on May 13, 1999. Trustee Clark moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory motioncarried Committee.
