Dear Clearwater Members,
Your efforts in making Clearwater Beach and downtown Clearwa#r a beautiful place for all of us
and for tourist is to be commended. It certainly is beautiful.
However, the purpose of my letter is to encourage you to beautiful the EAST side of Clearwater,
as the gateway to Clearwater. The main entrance onto Gulf to Bay needs a great deal of love
and care. Please make it more attractive.
1,The empty gas station at the north east corner of US 19 and Gulf to Bay should be purchased
to make it a green area, with trees and plantings. The building has been empty for many years
( 12- 15 years) and is not desirable commercial property. However, it would make a lovely bus
stop or just a mini park.
2. The fenced in retention ponds areas of Drew Street and McMullen Booth on the east side
need more care. Please plant a hibiscus or other flowering plant to conceal the unkempt
retention pond. There is always debris along the fence.
3. PLEASE CUT SOME OF THE MANGROVES ON BAYSHORE DRIVE. Please provide
"window" areas so the Old Tampa Bay can be visible while driving. Safety Harbor does a
beautiful job of keeping it so that it is a peaceful and lovely drive. The contrast of Clearwater and
Safety Harbor along the drive is vastly different. Safety Harbor wins.
There are so many areas on this East side of Clearwater that need improving. Please consider
this. I heard there will be plans to do something when the trail is completed, but there is still
much that can be done in other areas. before the trail is accomplished. Remember, this is the
first introduction to Clearwater for our tourist whether by plane or car.
Rspectfully yours,
