The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. at City Hall.
To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not necessarily
discussed in that order.

3 —Approval of Minutes
3.1. Approve the minutes of the May 7, 2014 Airpark Advisory Board meeting as submitted in
written summation.
Member Brock moved to approve Item 3.1. The motion was duly seconded and carried
unanimously.
4 -Tenant & Lease Report from FBO
FBO (Fixed-Base Operator) representative Barbara Cooper reported on tenant levels and
visitors. The t-hangar waiting list was long.
5—Old Business
5.1. Installation Status—AWOS (Automated Weather Observing System)
Operations Manager Gordon Wills said the AWOS was operational and certified in July. New
status information will be in the next edition of the AFD (Airport Facility Directory). Following
publication, the National Weather Service will have the information. Maintenance and annual
certification responsibility was contracted with the system's installation firm.
5.2. JACIP (Joint Automated Capital Improvement Program) Projects
Mr. Wills said the expanded scope of the runway extension and improvement JACIP project
included modern signage on Hercules Avenue and other items. As no previous inspection
reports had referenced the airpark's lack of informational lights, those lights were backed out of
the original contract. Some funds remained in the project's budget.

Discussion ensued regarding informational lights with comments that they would improve safety
as an airpark diagram was not published. Recommendations were made to install informational
lights related to the traffic pattern and to identify the taxiway and direct pilots to the FBO and
runway ends.
Member Brock moved to recommend that staff investigate and install appropriate informational
lights at the Airpark. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
5.3. FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Safety Meetings
Mr. Wills said a meeting schedule had not been determined.
He said WI-Fl was available at the CAP (Civil Air Patrol) meeting room. Scheduling the CAP
meeting room required Major Rodriguez's approval; last minute meetings were not appropriate.
6 — New Business
6.1. Update— General Aviation of the Year Nomination
Marine & Aviation Director William Morris presented the FDOT (Florida Department of
Transportation) plaque honoring Clearwater Airpark as the 2014 General Aviation Airport of the
Year in recognition of outstanding achievements in airport aesthetics, safety, and service in the
State of Florida at the City of Clearwater.
Mr. Wills said the State had 111 general aviation airports. Clearwater Airpark will be featured on
an upcoming cover of Florida Flyer.
6.2. Update— Maintenance Hangar and Hangar D Project Updates
Mr. Wills reviewed upgrades to the maintenance hangar including an oversized ceiling fan
installation, insulation replacement, drop ceiling construction in the office, replacement of interior
mercury vapor lights and outdoor lights with LEDs, and removal of a tree that hung over the
structure. He estimated upgrades would be completed in several months once floor cracks are
repaired, new workbenches, cabinets, flamable storage lockers, windows, and doors are
installed, and a big shed is added behind the hangar.
Mr. Wills said City engineer plans for upgrades to Hangar D include floor drains and a two piece
restroom. Plans will go to the consultant for review before they are released for bids.
6.3. Airpark Advisory Board Applications
Mr. Wills said former Board Member Edward O'Brien had sent a note of appreciation to board
members following his resignation from the Airpark Advisory Board to accept a seat on the
Marine Advisory Board.
Mr. Morris requested that board members encourage residents interested in the Airpark to apply
for a seat on the board. The City Council will discuss applications on August 18 and appoint a
new member to replace Mr. O'Brien on August 20, 2014.

Items Not on the Agenda
Discussion ensued re establishing a WI -FI hotspot at the airpark. Concern was expressed that
WI -Fl vendors may limit access to vendor customers only. Ms. Cooper will contact the airpark's
WI -Fl vendor.
