City Engineer Michael Quillen said FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) installed
a traffic signal on the Courtney Campbell Causeway at the public beach. The City requests a
variance to place a temper::!!)' parking attendant booth on the beach for beach access and to
sell parking passes. This request is to address complaints and problems, not to generate
revenue. No public restroom facilities are proposed. The parking area will be open between
7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekends through Labor Day and will close when full. The booth
needs to be installed at grade level to be functional and as it will not comply with FEMA (Federal
Emergency Management Agency) regulations, this ticket booth must be temporary and
removable.
