02/26/1990 TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION FUND MEETING
February 26, 1990
The City Commission, meeting as the Board of Trustees of the Employees Pension Fund, met in regular session at City Hall, Monday, February 26, 1990 at 9:20 A.M., with the following
members present:
Rita Garvey Chairperson
Lee Regulski Trustee
Don Winner Trustee
William Nunamaker Trustee
Richard Fitzgerald Trustee
Also Present were:
Ron H. Rabun City Manager
Milton A. Galbraith, Jr. City Attorney
Cynthia E. Goudeau City Clerk
ITEM #2 - Minutes:
Trustee Winner moved to approve the minutes of the January 29, 1990, meeting. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
ITEM #3 - Request for Acceptance into Membership:
The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee to approve membership for the employee(s) listed below:
a) Michael Stonelake
b) Christopher Hall
c) William Caprio
d) Nick Gossman
e) David Young
f) Christopher Squitieri
g) John Scott
h) Terry Teunis
Trustee Regulski moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
ITEM #4 - Request for Pension:
The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that the employee(s) listed below be granted a job-connected disability pension under Section(s) 26.35
and/or 26.27 of the Employees' Pension Plan.
a) Alexis Simpkin
Concern was expressed that although the individual is unable to perform the duties of Police Officer, there should be some provision that would allow her to perform other tasks.
Trustee Regulski moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
ITEM #5 - Other Business:
John Nicholson, representing the Pension Advisory Committee, expressed concern regarding a police officer being approved by the doctor for employment and pension when pre-employment
physical showed high cholesteral levels. He stated the Pension Advisory Committee is recommending a precautionary letter be sent to employees with preexisting conditions.
In response to a question it was indicated a police officer will not be hired unless the doctor recommends approval for both employment and pension.
It was suggested the City implement a Workers Compensation check as part of the pre-employment procedure.
