08/13/1990 TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION FUND MEETING August 13, 1990 The City Commission, meeting as the Board of Trustees of the Employees Pension Fund, met in regular session at City Hall, Monday, August 13, 1990 at 1:09 P.M., with the following members present: Rita Garvey Chairperson Lee Regulski Trustee William Nunamaker Trustee Richard Fitzgerald Trustee Sue Berfield Trustee Also Present were: Ron H. Rabun City Manager Milton A. Galbraith, Jr. City Attorney Sue Diana Assistant City Clerk ITEM #2 - Minutes: Trustee Berfield moved to approve the minutes of the July 30, 1990, meeting. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #3 - Request for Acceptance into Membership: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee to approve membership for the employee(s) listed below: a) Thomas S. Long b) Victor Myerscough c) Betsy Clement d) Paul Estes e) Laura Dann Trustee Regulski moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #4 - Request for Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that the employee(s) listed below be granted a job-connected disability pension under Section(s) 26.35 and/or 26.27 of the Employees' Pension Plan. George Mobley Concern was expressed regarding acceptance into the pension plan when there is a pre-existing condition. Personnel Director Michael Laursen said the Pension Advisory Committee has contended with this issue for a long time. He said the Pension Advisory Committee has been working with the Walk In Clinic to develop medical standards that may preclude this from occurring. Trustee Regulski moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #5 - Request for Pension: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that the employee(s) listed below be granted a regular pension under Section 26.34 and/or 26.37 of the Employees' Pension Plan. a) Richard J. White b) Don E. Lambert In response to a question, it was indicated Captain White has extended his retirement date to June 24, 1991 by choosing Option #2 of the Pension Plan. He is no longer on duty with the City. Trustee Fitzgerald moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #6 - Pension(s) to be vested: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee that the employee(s) listed below be permitted to vest his/her pension under Section 26.49 of the Employees' Pension Plan. Patricia L. Phillips Trustee Berfield moved to accept the recommendation of the Pension Advisory Committee. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #7 - Other Business: None. ITEM # 8 - Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
