Trustee Regulski moved to approve the Pension Advisory Committee's recommendation regarding a through g into membership. Motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.
h) Albert Gryncewicz.
Discussion ensued regarding concerns about Mr. Gryncewicz's health. The doctor at Walk-In Clinic has submitted a letter pursuant to the Trustees' previous action requesting a second
opinion regarding whether or not his health made him acceptable to the pension plan. The letter from the doctor's Walk-In Clinic indicates that he has no access to Mr. Gryncewicz's
records and therefore he recommends him for pension.
Concerns were expressed regarding the fact that city staff is aware of Mr. Gryncewicz's stroke earlier in the year. Concerns were expressed that there are no definite standards for
acceptance into the membership except that they be recommended by a doctor after the physical. It was emphasized that the concern is due to health reasons and not age.
In response to a question, it was indicated that a person must be a member of the plan for ten years before being eligible for a non-job connected disability and that they are immediately
eligible for a job-connected disability.
Trustee Nunamaker moved to remand Albert Gryncewicz for a second physical. Motion was duly seconded.
In response to a question, it was indicated that a different doctor would be used for this physical and that we would request medical records from Mr. Gryncewicz.
Upon the vote being taken, Trustees Nunamaker, Fitzgerald and Garvey voted "aye"; Trustees Winner and Regulski voted "nay". Motion carried.
