07/03/1989 TRUSTEES OF THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION FUND MEETING July 3, 1989 The City Commission, meeting as the Board of Trustees of the Employees Pension Fund, met in regular session at the City Hall, Monday, July 3, 1989, at 9:05 a.m., with the following members present: Rita Garvey Chairperson Don Winner Trustee William Nunamaker Trustee Richard Fitzgerald Trustee Absent: Lee Regulski Trustee Also Present were: Ron H. Rabun City Manager Milton A. Galbraith, Jr. City Attorney Cynthia E. Goudeau City Clerk ITEM #2 - Minutes: Trustee Winner moved to approve the minutes of the May 30, 1989, meeting. Motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #3 - Request for Acceptance into Membership: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Advisory Committee to approve membership for nine (9) employees listed below: Name Classification Department Wayne Spitaleri Police Recruit I Police Mark Beaudette, Police Recruit I Police Robert Dreslin Mechanic II Gen. Ser./ Payroll Dolores Hofer Office Asst. II Pub. Wks./Water Scott Paulk Parks Worker Pks.& Rec./ Nursery Trustee Winner moved to accept the recommendation of the Advisory Committee. Motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM #4 - Pensions to be Granted: The City Manager presented the recommendation of the Advisory Committee, General Employees' Pension Fund that the following employee be granted a regular pension under Section 26.34 of the Employees' Pension Plan. William A. McCall, Communications Manager, General Services Department, to be effective May 11, 1990, at the beginning of the day. Trustee Winner moved to accept the recommendation of the Advisory Committee. Motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. A question was raised regarding the status of the pension rewrite, in particular, the issue of an employee being able to extend their retirement date using accrued vacation and sick leave. The City Manager responded that this is subject to collective bargaining but it is anticipated at some point new hires will not be able to take advantage of this. It was requested that the citizens be made aware that there is a need for changes to the Pension Plan. ITEM #5 - Other Business: None. ITEM #6 - Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 A.M.
